Social policy & Electoral Accountability collaborative
The Social Policy & Electoral Accountability Collaborative (SPEAC) is a group of leading St. Louis area organizations that are striving to hold elected officials accountable to the communities they represent—or are seeking to represent—both prior to an election and afterward.
The SPEAC Forum on February 13, 2019 included a special livestream and watch party events to hear from candidates of the 2019 President of the Board of Alderman race!
SPEAC came together in 2016 and partnered with St. Louis Public Radio, the Nine Network, and The St. Louis American to plan and host a candidate forum prior to the 2017 mayoral election in the City of St. Louis. The event drew over 700 attendees and probed candidates on their commitments to addressing the priorities outlined in the Forward Through Ferguson report.
SPEAC has continued to meet and work together on strategies for pursuing racial equity goals in St. Louis.
In September 2018, CBN, Forward Through Ferguson, and Health Equity Works led a breakout session about SPEAC’s work at the National Alliance of Community Economic Development Association’s 10th Anniversary Summit.
